West Fixed Gear Jam
OK people. Things are finally sorted.
Here's how it's gonna work.
This will be a double event, with a Bike Polo tournament and a Fixed Gear Freestyle Jam, both international.
Things start on Friday with a welcome party in Lisbon's best spot to hang out -Bairro Alto.
The polo tournament starts on Saturday morning at 9am, and on Sunday it will be from 10 am till 18h. 14 teams divided into 2 groups. That way every team plays at least 6 games before the elimination rounds. Then it's on to the semis, followed by the game for 3 and 4th spot, and finally the double final!
For the fixed gear jam, the indoor skate park is open exclusively for fixed gear riders from 10 am.
From 9am till 14pm the riders can practice or do whatever they please. The Jam starts at 14pm. Riders will be divided into groups, and each group will have a predetermined ammount of time to ride the park and blow the judges minds. The top 10 will move on the the final, where another set amount of time will be given for riders to blow whatever is left of the judges minds. We're not specifiing the ammount of time for each part of the jam because it entirely depends on the number of riders present. (Theres already quite a lot of confirmed riders). Ladies get on over and we'll have a category for you as well.
As your probably noticed there's an overlap between the polo and freestyle events. Well, we tried, but there was just no way of making things work out otherwise. We tried to keep the overlap minimum, and 2 hours was the best we could get.
After polo on Saturday we'll be heading to the Sk8 park, for the finals, And a big Barbecue Party!
30€ per team
10€ per rider
We have a great list off sponsors and media partners. Check them out here: http://westjam.pt.vu/
Now, and so that everyone is satisfied:
The field will be ours for the whole weekend including friday, it has spotlights that start working as soon as the sun goes down. If partying or freestyle is not your thing, you're welcome to remain on the field and play pick up games. BUT there Will be a smaller field in the skate park for pick up polo!
There's information on places to stay on the site. We'll keep adding stuff in there, with all the information we might think could be useful. We're working on a bunch of other stuff to make things easier and more enjoyable, so keep checking for updates.
