Victoria Winter Mixer 2013
We play polo on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and we're hard and tough! Come play with us in the Winter mixer this December.
Those who arrive early are invited to tea and crumpets (bring your own beer) at Ryan's house in Fernwood on Friday the 6th, at 7ish.
The ball drops at 9:30 am and play ends when there's a winner or when no one can take it anymore.
The winning team and the losing team will be awarded t-shirts during the post-polo kegger at our home shop, Recyclistas.
To keep things interesting, we're going to draw teams out of a hat at the beginning of the day. Location is Victoria High in Fernwood, Victoria, BC. We have two courts and lots of boards.
A couple of our members have big houses with spare rooms that people can crash in, so email me (email@example.com) or call 250 884 7750 if you want to stay overnight.
UPDATE: Date is changed. 6th to the 8th - that way we get 2 full days of polo.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to either coming early on Friday or staying late on Sunday to help set up and tear down. Email if you're into that.
Registration fee is 15 dolla per head.
UPDATE 2: Our location is confirmed, hurray!
Don't forget to email me to get on the billet list so we know how many couches/beds/bits of floor we'll need to find. Ryan has room for 15 and I know a lot of people are staying with non-polo friends, but we can come up with more space if needed.
Order of events is like this:
Friday from 5pm: Set up boards. 5 or 6 volunteers.
Friday night: Tea and crumpets (BYOB) at Ryan's house, at 2632 Scott Street.
Saturday before 9:30: Set up court.
Saturday at 9:30. Ball drops.
Saturday at 6: Tear down court, head to bike shop.
Saturday night: Party at Recyclistas. New Groovement is playing. 5 bucks a cup for donations to the band.
Sunday before 9:30: Set up court again.
Sunday 9:30-6: Play polo! Winners will be picked at noon, then we'll play til the light goes.
Sunday after dark: Anyone who still has enough juice to play can keep going at Fernwood Community Center, where there are lights. Tear down court, then pack you beautiful people off to the ferryboats.
If you arrive before 6 on Friday night, get yourself to Recyclistas (25 Crease Ave.) and check in with Ryan.
