Euro Bench

3 players on a bench, with Euro Bench in text, and EU flag style stars
Saturday, July 20, 2013 - Sunday, July 21, 2013
Host club:
Bristol
Court size:
2 Courts. 25m x 40m

The first Euro Bench will happen on the weekend of July 20/21st, at the St. Pauls courts in Bristol.

It will be a very similar format to the Bench Minor tournament in North America.

8 teams, drafted from an open pool. Round Robin, and then a final for the best teams.

A captain plus 7 players per team, games will be 1 hour long.

Anyone is welcome to register, not just players from Europe. North Americans, and others are more than welcome to come.

The location has two big courts, with a grippy surface.

As part of a sports centre it also has toilets, showers, etc...

Travel information.

Flying:
Bristol Airport
http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/flights-from-bristol.aspx
Birmingham, Cardiff and London Airports are also just a few hours away on the train (you'll need bike reservations). Come to London early, and play pickup with us.

Car:
Across the channel, either through the Channel Tunnel (35 mins), or on a ferry, from France, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain or Denmark. Calais to Dover is the shortest crossing (1 hour), and has easy access to London, and then the M4 motorway to Bristol (3-4 hours to Bristol from Dover, 2 hours from London).
Portsmouth (Caen, Cherbourg, Le Havre, St Malo, Bilbao, Santander) is closest to Bristol (2 hours drive), but the ferries take longer.
Dieppe to Newhaven is also an option, it's 3 hours to Bristol.

Train: Take the Eurostar from Paris or Brussels to London St. Pancras, then the Circle Line Underground to Paddington, then a train from there to Bristol. You will need bike reservations on Eurostar, and on the train to Bristol.

Games are now underway.

From the first few results, the teams seem pretty even, impossible to predict who will make the top 4 on Sunday.
